My Most recent project is titled “Star Wars: Adventures in Babysitting”. It’s a source book for the Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) role playing game “Edge of the Empire”, which is similar to Dungeons and Dragons but more complicated, frustrating, and set in the Star War universe.
Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator I created all of the internal graphic assets: The artwork, stat blocks, planet portraits, section cover pages, and even the page number icons. The aesthetic style is meant to emulate that of official FFG material.
The guide introduces dozens of new features to the game, including weapons, equipment, playable species, vehicles, adversaries, and locations. I had be sure each addition felt like it was true to the source material while also fitting in with the preexisting FFG material.
The final section of the guide provides stats for NPCs (Non-Player Characters). I created these icons to indicated each one’s affiliation. They appear as small tokens next to the NPCs name so I made sure they were very visually distinct to be easily identified at a glance.
The first guide I made was “The Imperial Guide to Stormtrooper Tactics”. Similar to the above guide, I produced all the graphics myself. This guide also introduced a number of new mechanics to the game that added depth to the combat system.
